DLLN Uganda boosts hygiene in Kagulu Health Center iii
Ugandan health facilities are listed among 8 countries with the lowest coverage of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in the world, according to the latest report by the Joint Monitoring Programme of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Poor WASH services compromise the ability to provide safe and quality healthcare, which leads to high morbidity and mortality, and poses a significant economic and social burden. Safe water, functioning handwashing facilities, latrines, and hygiene and cleaning practices are especially important for improving health outcomes for both the general population and health workers.
In order to provide quality healthcare and reduce infections, facilities must have the appropriate infrastructure and staff capacities to provide safe, effective, equitable and people-centered services. In a bid to boost hygiene in Kagulu Health Centre iii , in busoga sub region, DLLN Uganda in Partnership with Tim foundation and Busoga kingdom donated Utesinsils stand and hand washing facilities to this center . These were handed over by the Executive director of DLLN Uganda Prince Kitimbo Daniel, accompanied by the Projects Cordinator Mr. Mwiru Kalori on 01st December 2022.
Prince Kitimbo emphasized the use of these equipment for the good of the people.
