Hundreds turn up for skilling at the new DLL-Uganda Skilling Centers
Hundreds of youth flocked the two newly opened uptraining centers of DLLN-Uganda to register under the program. The new skilling centers are in Irundu (Budiope) and Kasambira (Buzaya)
Margret Kisakye, the coordinator of DLLN -Uganda skilling Centers, revealed that the high number of youth who want to register for the training shows that they have really embraced the program.
“We have so far registered about 350 youth in the two new skilling centers and this number might even exceed our expectations,” Kisakye Said.
The Director of DLLN-Uganda, Prince Kitimbo Daniel Joshua also advised Political leaders not to politicise the skilling program, noting that DLLN aims at transforming the lives of young people and that the initiative targets enterprises that are focused on self employment like tailoring, hairdressing and Craft artisan.
“we are trying to form a formidable force of young Ugandans who are going to help in liberating the economy of Uganda. We are therefore happy with the turn up, the local councils who have recommended these students and the parents who have desisted from politicking and decided to come and join this initiative,” he said.
Prince Kitimbo further noted that so far, hundreds of the vulnerable youth have benefited from this program and have testified that it has been a game changer in their lives.
“We we have skilled young people in our different skilling centers of Kitayunjwa, Kidera, Gwase, Kagulu and Kisozi in the vocational fields of hairdressing, Tailoring and craft artisan since 2021,” he said.
Currently, the program is being implemented in the Busoga regions Budiope and Buzaya in the different training centres of Irundu, Kasambira, Gwase and Kisozi after dropping Kidera and Kitayunjwa.
