Trainers Equiped with Work Ethics Skills
Developing
Lives, livelihood and Nutrition Uganda kicked off their Training-of-Trainers
(ToT) Programme on “Work Ethics” with a one day Workshop that took
place on Friday 12th July 2023, at their head office in Bukolobe, Kamuli
Municipality.
The purpose of this training is to
introduce and facilitate staff understanding of the Partnership Policy on
Conflict of Interest, and to raise awareness, consciousness on how to conduct
the affairs of World Vision in an ethical manner. The aim is to help staff
identify, disclose and resolve any potential conflict of interest for World
Vision.
This
training is the first step of the important employees revamping and improvement
Programme. The training was facilitated by the DLLN-Uganda Administrator Walya
Peter who emphasized the employees to uphold the organization core values if
they are to achieve the organizational intended goals.
“My hope for this first cohort of trainees
is to use what they have learned and what they will learn in their daily job.
It would be great if they uphold the DLLN-Uganda core values, manage to solve
conflict in ways they did not think of before, prevent escalation, and share
this knowledge as trainers or facilitators. We know that pressure and
challenges are increasing in the different training centres, which has
compelled us to train our teaching staff”, said DLLN’s Administrator Mr. Walya Peter.
The purpose of this training is to
introduce and facilitate staff understanding of the DLLN-Uganda Core Values, Code
of conduct, conflict Management at work, and to raise awareness, consciousness
on how to conduct the affairs of DLLN-Uganda in an ethical manner. The aim is
to help staff identify, disclose and resolve any potential conflict of
interest.
Tweleve (12) Participants (3 trainers from
each training Centre) from the four DLLN-Uganda Training centres across Busoga Region, namely Kisozi (Buzaya),
Kitayunjwa (Bugabula), Gwase (Budiope) and Kidera (Budiope) gathered to attend
the workshop.
Among the
beneficiaries of this ToT programme, Ms. Margret Kisakye, Assistant Project coordinator-Skilling
Project, said that Conflict Management plays a crucial role in her position: “Given the nature of people they train in the various
skilling centres with 99% being young girls, conflicts are prevalent and have
significant implications for our communities. Effectively managing these
conflicts is essential to ensure Stability, Social Cohesion, and progress in
the Centres we serve.” She added that this first ToT workshop was
an “invaluable experience that provided insights into the
mindset required to be an effective trainer. The case study exercises were
particularly helpful, allowing me to apply theoretical knowledge to practical
scenarios. The process of the training itself, including interactive sessions,
group discussions, and role-playing, fostered a dynamic learning environment”.
As this
training journey began, DLLN-Uganda placed its trust in the commitment and
dedication of the trainees to effectively use the knowledge acquired in their Training
Centres
